Ok, so real quick story: I'm sitting in our student union and this girl and guy are sitting in the booth next to me. This girl has her face about half an inch from his face and is squeezing his nose with both thumbs. Oh and now they're exchanging saliva. SO WEIRD....
Ok, sorry, back to my real story. Oh my gosh, she's squeezing his nose again. What is this?? I need to focus. Sorry.
So, hi everyone. I feel like it's about time to update you on the happenings here in Indiana. The ones that don't revolve around my ridiculously odd classmates. School is brilliant- busy as usual, but nothing too crazy. We had our totally fantastic week-long Fall Break a couple weeks ago. I went to DC to visit a friend, but while he was at work all day, I went and worked with the wonderful Sr. Katherine Feely at the Center of Concern- that place where we took the picture on the steps at the beginning of the summer. It was really cool to be there and work with Sr. Katherine (who is really awesome, by the way) and pretend to have a real job for a week. I even had to ride the Metro like a commuter and everything. And she let me actually put together some of the stuff for their education for justice website (which is also awesome, by the way). Oh and I met Michael Beard at the lovely Catholic University of America for dinner. Be jealous. And there were no late night ten mile walks around all of downtown DC. Overall, it was a fabulous week. And I got to drive up to Connecticut for the funeral of the 07 worx team member that passed away. That was less fabulous. But hey, what's death got on us Christian folks anyway? :)
What else is new? SOFIA is getting ready to have our first big event tomorrow. I hope people come. It's about human trafficking. It's so hard to know how to tackle these things- like human trafficking and getting people involved in stuff. I know food speaks very loudly to us college student types, so I'm working on that one. Remember: everything relates back to food in the end. Food and God, I suppose.
In other news, I started my application for the JVC volunteer program for next year yesterday (hyperlinks are SO COOL!). I'm really excited. The only thing that makes me a little sad is having to be really disconnected from everyone for a couple years. That'll be a struggle. But otherwise, you'd probably be hard pressed to find someone more excited about life. And it's snowing today. Woot.
I think that's it. It's been awesome hearing from all of you over the weeks. Don't be strangers. Keep rocking.
Love and prayers,
Michelle :)
