Aloha kids!
I'm following Carolyn and doing some word vomiting of my own. It is what happens when people make me think.
All I know is that God is God and I just am I...
Kay, so I'm in mass tonight, a fabulous time of course. The deacon gets up and starts the homily and then pulls out that quote. And he keeps talking about how basically it's God's will, not ours. And that as humans we try so hard to take control and do things our way and it never ends up well. Secretly, I think God likes to make me laugh. Because truth be told, this has been what has been on my mind for like the last week. How do I stop trying to do things my way and let God do it? And on top of that, how in the world can I believe that I have a better plan? God created the world, clearly he is smarter than I am or will ever be. I keep thinking about the Long View poem. We are ministers, not messiahs, workers, not the master builder. So why do we try so freaking hard to be the master builder. The creator of everything around us, the one who sent his son to become human and die for us, who is 3 persons in one. How in the world do I think I have a better plan than that guy[or girl, take your pick.]? It feels so mind blowing sometimes. Which makes me wonder even though Jesus was God, he was human too, so even though there is only one account of him wanting out of his fate, were there other times? Was Jesus like, 'hey Dad, I've got a better idea. Let's go with this one.'? That is something I want to ask Jesus when I get to heaven. Note to self.
I don't have any quotes for the other things.
Sooo,
I know I have talked to Michelle about this but I continuously wonder when the term pro-life was specifically coined to be about having a baby. 10 bucks says that if you headed to the Catholic Bishops website and typed in pro-life in the search bar it would be about birth. Yeah, there might be some topics on other parts of life, but the good majority would be about birth. Rightfully so, it is an important topic. However, the other parts of life are equally important. Shifting gears and headed towards real people: if you ask someone about something related to pro-life it is assumed to be about having a baby. Priests get up on Sunday's and talk about the importance of being pro-life and protecting innocent lives, normally assumed to be about babies. So I guess my real question is why don't people get up and talk about pro-life in terms of war, and hunger, and homelessness, and the environment? Why aren't those issues more prevalent in election debates, or just in plain old regular conversations? I would really like to see a priest stand up on Sunday and talk about the other issues pertaining to life. And I want to know why they don't. So I'm going to ask. I'll get back to you if I find the information =]
Nextt[I was going to say finally, but that makes me feel like I'm writing a paper. haha.]...
So I'm in mass again. I can't remember what triggered it but I started wondering when are the moments and what are the things that make people actually understand and believe their religion and faith. I mean, how many people go to church on Sunday's and go through the motions? I know that God is behind it all, but sometimes I wonder about the moment, or moments, that people are like 'I truly believe this'. I just think it would be interesting to hear those stories and learn about those moments and how it changed someones life.
Okay, I think that is all I have. Maybe next time I'll actually have an update about my life. Here's to wishful thinking.
Missing you like always!
Peace, love & good thoughts,
Mopface

Only a Mopus could come up with that title. That's what I'm saying.
Also, in case I haven't shown this to you before, here's the sweetest article I've read on the, shall we say, broader view of the pro-life movement. Recommended to me by one Sean Sanford and comes with my high approval. Share with your friends.

Peace all,
Michelle :)
Mop! I completely agree with you about the term "pro-life." I get especially upset about how the term is used during election times. I'm not trying to bash the Republican party or point fingers, but how can that party be considered "pro-life" when they support the death penalty and going to war in Iraq? I just don't get it! Way to word-vomit girl!!!
